SOUNDS OF THE UNDERGROUND tour no more? Update on OZZFEST and ROCKSTAR

It has been revealed to THE METAL REPORT that the SOUNDS OF THE UNDERGROUND festival is no more. Due to the stiff competition of OZZFEST and the new ROCKSTAR TOUR the SOTU could not compete and will not be  ressurected in the future.

What does this do to the other festivals that travel the US in the summer? GIGANTOUR has moved into the Spring months. With DISTURBED commited to the ROCKSTAR TOUR (and SLIPKNOT strongly rumored to be on this tour too) and OZZY OSBOURNE stating he will headline OZZFEST 2008 (and JUDAS PRIEST rumored to be in negotiations to co-headline the main stage), it appears as if OZZFEST will take on a more metal type of festival billing while ROCKSTAR will accomodate the more commercial Top 40 radio hard rock acts. Let us not forget that since GIGANTOUR will be over with by the time the summer touring season starts, this will free up MEGADETH, IN FLAMES, CHILDREN OF BODOM, etc to play on other festivals.

Bands such as SLIPKNOT, JUDAS PRIEST, WALLS OF JERICHO, SEVENDUST, DRAGONFORCE, MUDVAYNE and LACUNA COIL all have albums due in 2008. Will they play on one of the festivals? SLIPKNOT recently issued a press release saying do not believe the rumors while JUDAS PRIEST have been scheduled to play in Europe except during the mid July through early September dates that OZZFEST and ROCKSTAR will be on the road for.

MARILYN MANSON, AVENGED SEVENFOLD, DOWN, and ATREYU have recently put out new albums. Where does this leave these bands? Younger bands such as IN THIS MOMENT, 3 INCHES OF BLOOD, DROID, and BLACK TIDE are sure to land on one of the festivals playing earlier in the day as a support act.

We also cannot forget bands such as ROB ZOMBIE, SLAYER, HEAVEN & HELL, etc who do not have a new album out but could still show up because of their legendary status.

Not to mention METALLICA, KORN... one would have to assume they will tour too, But on what festival? Both bands make alot of $ doing their own festivals (SUMMER SANITARIUM and FAMILY VALUES).
